Wie zijn wij?

Renate (she/her)

Co-owner

I’m a ceramic artist who designs and produces handmade ceramics. After years spent working as a photographer, I felt the need for a new challenge. That’s when I decided to take a ceramics course, and I discovered my true passion for clay. I soon established my own studio, “Claytuesday,” and enrolled at the Dutch Ceramics School in Gouda to refine my techniques.

My work reflects an authentic exploration of materials, shapes, and balance, primarily focusing on tableware crafted on the potter’s wheel, along with some hand-built pieces. Recently, I’ve embarked on a new journey with CLAYGYM, where I can dedicate myself to sharing my love for ceramics and teaching others the skills to work with clay.

Sarah (she/her)

teacher/handbuilder

I am a sculptor and ceramic artist specializing in large-scale ceramics and handbuilding. I studied at both the HKU and the Gerrit Rietveld Academie, and I’ve been working with ceramics for over six years.

My work is conceptual and often explores the relationship between humans and animals, as well as structures in society. In addition to my artistic practice, I have a broad knowledge of glazes.
You can come to meet me at the Claygym, where I can help you bring your ideas to life, whether through handbuilding techniques or on the wheel.

Farid (he/him)

Co-owner

As an co-owner and ceramic enthusiast, I bring a deep passion for applied arts, to our creative space. My role centers on handling the business aspects of the studio, allowing our artistic team to thrive and create freely. With a background in both business and a love for arts,

I’m dedicated to fostering an inspiring environment where creativity and craftsmanship can flourish. I believe in supporting our studio’s vision, blending art with strategy to build a sustainable, vibrant community for ceramic art.

You can expect hopefully more CLAYGYM’S in the near future.

Emil (they/them)

teacher/thrower

I am a ceramicist and clay enthusiast with a background in graphic design. My love for nature and illustration results in work that is mostly inspired by flora and fauna. Besides working on the pottery wheel, I am skilled in other areas, such as handbuilding, working with sgraffito and different glazing techniques.

I believe the best learning happens when students feel free to discover their own style and develop their personal artistic approach. During my classes and workshops it is important for me to make my students feel seen, support them in their current creative process where needed and most importantly: have fun while doing it!
